Permission Granted for Residential Development at Tidbury Green Golf Club

TP Editorial Team

We have recently obtained planning permission by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council for the erection of four detached ‘Huf’ style houses and the conversion of the existing Golf Club House to three residential flats on Green Belt land at Tidbury Green Golf Club in Solihull.

The application site, situated within the 21-hectare Golf Course, currently comprises the main Club building, a driving range and storage sheds. The scheme proposes the demolition of the driving range and storage sheds, the erection of four two-storey detached dwellings and the conversion of the existing club house into residential flats. Eight car parking spaces and landscaped open space will be provided to support the new development.

The houses were carefully designed with a form sympathetic to the former Club House. The ‘Huf’ house design, utilises a significant proportion of glazing at the front and rear. Arranged in a crescent, the houses will create a sense of place around a central shared parking and garden area. The dwellings will have large, principally full-height windows and roof lights in order to take full advantage of the rural views, and to give a high level of natural lighting to the main living spaces. The Clubhouse will be converted into three two-bedroom flats with private amenity space for each.

The Council considered that the site’s redevelopment will have less of an impact on the openness of the Green Belt than the existing development. They agreed that the proposal provides an acceptable development that will improve the visual and residential amenity of the location
