New dwelling approved in Knowle

TP Editorial Team

We are delighted to have obtained planning permission for a new detached house in the rear garden of an existing property on Warwick Road in Knowle, Solihull.

We advised the client from the start of the process about the development opportunities for her garden and took her through the process from the pre-application stage to obtaining planning permission and provided all planning and architectural support. A previous application in the 1980’s was refused on this site.

The site is located to the north of the centre of Knowle within the area of Copt Heath. The cul-de-sac currently provides access to three dwellings that are located on the southern side of the lane, to the west of the application site. The surrounding area is predominantly residential in character with a mix of detached and semi-detached one- and two-storey dwellings.

The application proposes the erection of a 1 ½-storey residential dwelling designed by our architects. The house is of a high design standard with an attractive rear garden, representing a significant improvement in the general appearance of the site and visual amenity of the area.

We argued the character of the area had changed significantly since the previous refusal and designed the dwelling to fit in with that character and respect the amenities of the neighbouring properties.
