The school welcomed the Mayoress of Solihull, Councillor Mrs Flo Nash, who formally cut the ribbon on 9th November 2018 and proclaimed the facility open. The Head Teacher Dr. Janette Smith is delighted with the result and the great benefit that will be derived by the students from this state-of-the-art facility. Students and parents were in attendance at the grand opening.
The project follows Tyler Parkes securing planning permission in early 2018 for the erection of the building to accommodate the specialist Learning Support Facility. Solihull Planning Department were extremely helpful in determining the application in a timely manner and Modulek, the specialist building suppliers, worked closely and very well with the school to deliver the facility in time for it to come into use for the commencement of the September 2018 school term.
The new building is modern, with clean lines and sits on the edge of the school playing fields to provide a calming and pleasant outlook. The building is closely aligned with the school complex and provides classrooms, quiet rooms, laboratory and learning initiatives to help students with their individual needs, alongside mainstream education.
