Birmingham Local Plan – Preferred Options Consultation AND Call for Sites now live!

Birmingham City Council has begun a 6-week public consultation on its Birmingham Local Plan Preferred Options Document. The consultation began on Monday 8th July and runs until Monday 19th August 2024.

The new Local Plan will shape how the whole of the city area will develop up to 2042. It will be used in making future planning decisions in the city and will guide planning decisions on all development and regeneration activity. Once adopted it will replace the current Birmingham Development Plan (2017).

The Preferred Options document is the first opportunity to see the draft planning policies which will shape the City over the next 20 years, and it includes strategies for 27 Growth Zones which the Council are proposing. These Growth Zones are spread across the city and are areas which are likely to see the most significant transformation and be a focus for regeneration and redevelopment. The Council considers these zones can deliver significant quantities of homes and employment for the city.

The Council are inviting views and comments as part of the current formal public consultation, with the comments considered and used, along with evidence, to inform and refine the Local Plan prior to its adoption.  Alongside the consultation, there is also an opportunity to submit site suggestions for development through a Call for Sites.

The consultation and its evidence base and supporting information is available on the Council’s website at www.birmingham.gov.uk/birminghamplan

If you have any land or property which may be affected, would like to put forward a site for development, or would like us to review the Local Plan on your behalf, please do get in touch on 0121 744 5511 or info@tyler-parkes.co.uk
