Clay Pigeon Shooting Approved

Amanda Stobbs

Tyler Parkes is pleased to have secured planning permission for the temporary use of land within the Farncombe Estate for clay pigeon shooting.

The Farncombe Estate is situated near the popular village of Broadway in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and provides a range of luxury accommodation and restaurants at their three hotels, the Dormy House Hotel and Spa, The Fish Hotel and Foxhill Manor, as well as offering self-catering cottages throughout the Estate’s land.

Clay pigeon shooting is one of several outdoor adventures available at the Estate, which ranges from archery, tennis, falconry and hawk walk, woodland well-being and yoga to the more unusual axe throwing, kids’ buggies and hover crafting, which are offered to pre-booked groups and parties, as well as their hotel guests.

The planning application was not without its complications with concerns from nearby residents and the Cotswold Conservation Board; however, these were addressed through the provision of a robust Noise Assessment and the agreement to certain conditions on hours of operations and mitigation measures.

Planning permission was granted by Wychavon District Council under delegated powers in May 2023.
