From Hen House to 4-bed House

Alan Coleman

Prior Approval has been granted for conversion of a former poultry unit to a four bedroom dwelling in Worcestershire, including building operations necessary for its conversion.

The client approached the Tyler Parkes Partnership after two previous attempts to secure conversion of the unit had been unsuccessful. We were able to advise the client on the measures required to fully address the Council’s concerns and submit a scheme with the necessary supporting information to demonstrate compliance with the relevant criteria.

Despite objections from the Highway Authority on sustainability grounds, the Council rightly determined that the relative location of the site to local services and public transport is beyond the scope of the Prior Approval application to consider. All other aspects of the scheme were found to be acceptable enabling Prior Approval to be granted comfortably within the 56-day period.

The application was supported by a bat survey report by Focus Environmental Consultants and a structural assessment and report by HWA (Structural Engineers) Ltd. The architectural design and all planning consultancy was undertaken by the Tyler Parkes Partnership.
