Having a blast!

TP Editorial Team

Whilst it may not be the most exciting of planning permissions, it is nonetheless an important one - particularly for the prestigious Calcot Hotel and Spa, near Tetbury.

Tyler Parkes having previously secured planning permission for the conversion of the Grain Store, a former agricultural building, to a ‘well-being suite’ including gym and fitness sanctuary and for four tree-top accommodation hides, the application for three gas storage tanks to support the hotel’s operations was a little less glamourous.

The three gas storage tanks, with the necessary ‘blast wall’, are proposed in the hotel’s service yard, screened from public view and close to the newly installed boiler.  However, it was still important to demonstrate that there would be no harm to the Cotswold Natural Landscape (previously the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), nature conservation and residential amenity.

Following dialogue on safety and drainage matters, planning permission was granted in February 2024.  With the business end all sorted, it is time to get active in the Grain Store!
