Permission for Residential Conversion of Barn

TP Editorial Team

We recently obtained planning permission from Warwick District Council for the conversion of a utilitarian steel barn in Rookery Lane, Lowsonford. The barn lies on a large farm and is surrounded on four sides by farmland. It is accessed off a tree-line private track.

We were engaged by the family to apply for permission to convert the barn into a residence using Permitted Development Rights. Our architectural team worked closely with the client and alongside our planning team to arrive at the approved scheme, keeping in close contact with planning officers and addressing any issues that were raised by the Council during the application’s processing. The resulting building is around 77m2 (813ft2), with two bedrooms. The lounge and family room will have stunning views to the East, South and West overlooking the valley which the Stratford-upon-Avon canal runs through.
