South Warwickshire Local Plan Preferred Options Consultation

Stratford-on-Avon District Council and Warwick District Council have given the go ahead for public consultation on the next stage of the emerging South Warwickshire Local Plan.

The Preferred Options Consultation will run until 7th March 2025 and addresses a number of topics including housing, economy, climate change, and the environment. The Preferred Options document identifies 24 potential Strategic Growth locations and 12 potential New Settlement locations, which are an indication of where the councils consider large-scale strategic growth may best be located. The Preferred Options document and supporting information can be accessed via the following link: https://southwarwickshire.oc2.uk/document/148

Online and in person consultation events are available, with details available via: https://www.southwarwickshire.org.uk/swlp/preferred-options.cfm

In addition, a focused 'Call for Sites' is running alongside the Preferred Options consultation. This Call for Sites exercise is only for sites that meet at least one of the purposes below:

  • A site that falls within or adjacent to one of the 12 potential new settlement locations

  • A Gypsies and Traveller/Travelling Showpeople Site

  • A site for commercial or community-led renewable energy generation.

The councils have advised that they are not accepting any other sites at this time but confirm that sites submitted previously through one of the earlier Call for Sites do not need to be submitted again.

If you would wish to discuss the current Preferred Options consultation or require assistance with promoting sites through this latest, albeit restricted, Call for Sites opportunity, please contact our Planning Policy Team on 0121 744 5511.
